Privateer Rum
Launching a limited release without touching the theme
Privateer is a craft distillery in Ipswich, Massachusetts making rum that's never sweetened and never filtered. I support their WordPress site, most recently the launch of The Rum Ambassador's Cask, a single barrel selected with Ian Burrell.
The situation
A limited release needs attention the day it drops and needs to come down cleanly when it sells through. Privateer's site runs on a premium theme, and editing theme files for a short-lived promotion makes every future update riskier.
What I built
A standalone plugin that adds a promotional popup for the cask release and a "Now Available" banner directly under the homepage hero.
Both switch off with the plugin, and the theme stays untouched, so updates stay safe and the next release can reuse the same pattern.
